Thank you for the prompt and thoughtful reply. I ask primarily because I’m beginning a master’s program in public history this fall, and the issue of making history accessible while also conveying the historical complexity of the period or events presented in a program or exhibition seems to me a fundamental question and challenge. I appreciate your suggestions.

How would you have had The Met provide greater history and context? An accompanying catalogue? More or different wall text? I’m just curious what your concrete suggestions might be.
